Modern technology has made a significant impact on the world of dentistry, and there are greater advances every day. Staying up to date with this technology can be a huge investment of time and money into training and equipment. This investment always pays off for the patient. Advanced technology allows for better prevention, earlier cancer screenings, faster and more comfortable treatment, and more lifelike dental restorations, such as dentures, bridges, and crowns. With the aid of computers, dental restorations can be made to perfectly replicate your natural tooth for a near seamless replacement. Both Vita Easyshade® and E4D PlanScan technology help your dentist to design a perfect smile.
Teeth very in color from person to person. Even one person can have multiple shades of color on multiple teeth within one mouth. Vita Easyshade® is a tool that measures the exact shade of the tooth. The device precision scans the tooth under any lighting and communicates the shade to a computer. Based off of the shade information, a prosthetic will be crafted to match the exact color needed to restore or replace the tooth. Vita Easyshade® can even verify the shade of the prosthetic after it is crafted to make sure it exactly matches the rest of the teeth. Long gone are the days when a dental crown or bridge stands out like a sore thumb in your smile.
Along with color-matching, it is even more important to match the size, shape, and placement of the dental restoration to your mouth. Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) can aid in creating a precise dental prosthetic. E4D PlanScan technology allows for an extremely detailed scan of your tooth and mouth to be sent directly to a manufacturing computer. Using the digital scanned impressions and measurements, the computer will sculpt and create a perfect restoration. This technology allows for a dental crown to be created in just one day.
