Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is the oral health equivalent of a real bridge, and closes the gap left in your smile by one or more missing teeth. The bridge consists of a pair of dental crowns that are anchored to the healthy teeth outside of the gap (called abutment teeth) and one or more replacement teeth (called pontics) to fill the empty space. In many cases, bridges are constructed from porcelain and zirconia for their lifelike appearance, and can often be placed on one or more dental implants instead of using healthy teeth for support.

The purpose of a dental bridge is to restore your smile’s appearance and its ability to function properly after you have lost a tooth, or two or three teeth that are adjacent to each other. When combined with one or more dental implants, a bridge can also help maintain the health and integrity of your jawbone. If you experience more extensive tooth loss, then Dr. Carmona may recommend a partial or complete denture for more comprehensive results.
