Advanced Dental Technology
Besides making life easier and the world more connected, technology has also revolutionized modern dental and prosthodontic care. From innovative digital imaging to lifelike, biocompatible dental implants, we’re committed to staying up-to-date on the latest technologies and techniques to provide you with the best and most personalized treatment options.
Oral Cancer Screening with OralID™
During your dental checkups and cleanings, your dentist should also perform a comprehensive oral cancer screening to check for early signs of cancer development. The advanced OralID™ early-detection system uses fluorescent technology to highlight tissue abnormalities that could warn of cancer development, allowing Dr. Carmona to recommend treatment early and improve the chances of successful recovery.
Like traditional radiography, digital X-rays are highly-detailed pictures of your teeth (including their roots), jawbone, and tissues around them that reveal hidden issues, like cavities or tooth damage. Unlike conventional X-rays, however, digital ones emit up to 80-90% less radiation, and produce crisp, clear digital images immediately on a chairside monitor.
Intraoral cameras are small, digital cameras that allow you to see what your dentist sees during your dental examination. The camera is small enough to fit comfortably in your mouth, and is attached to a thin wand that Dr. Carmona can use to control it. The images are projected onto a digital chairside monitor, where the doctor can better explain the state of your dental health.
CT scans, or computed tomography scans, are cone beam digital X-rays that produce 3D images of your teeth and jawbone, as well as the soft tissues and nerves in your mouth and lower facial structures. CT scans are useful when custom-designing a patient’s dental prosthesis, as the 3D images allow for a full, 360-degree view of the teeth and dental ridges.
Soft-Tissue Laser Dentistry
Our soft-tissue diode laser significantly improves the precision and comfort of procedures that involve trimming or reshaping gum tissues. The laser eliminates the need for a scalpel in some minor oral surgeries, and can also make cosmetic gum contouring and some periodontal treatments more successful.
Everyone’s teeth are unique, including their exact shade and hue. With the new VITA Easyshade® system, Dr. Carmona can accurately match your specific tooth color and shade when creating lifelike dental restorations, such as crowns, bridges, and dentures.
E4D PlanScan technology is a same-day restoration system that allows Dr. Carmona to design, create, and place your custom dental restoration all in one day, and with increased precision. The computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) technology takes digital impressions of your teeth and oral structures, and then accurately designs and crafts your restoration according to your specifications.
All-On-4® Implant Dentures
For patients with minimal jawbone structure, or who wish to minimize the extent of surgery needed to replace their missing teeth, Dr. Carmona may recommend All-On-4® Implant Dentures, created by Nobel Biocare®. All-On-4 dentures utilize only four strategically-placed implant posts to support a complete denture, maximizing support for your replacement teeth while minimizing the number of posts that must be surgically-inserted.
AvaDent Digital Dentures
Planning dental implant placement is a complex process that relies heavily on precision and accuracy. To ensure proper placement every time, Dr. Carmona uses the Implant Concierge™ system to create highly-accurate surgical guides specific to each patient’s needs. The guides show Dr. Carmona exactly where to place each implant post and exactly at what angle for maximum efficiency.
If you are undergoing implant placement or another extensive restoration, or if you experience anxiety at the thought of dental treatment, then we can recommend an appropriate form of dental sedation to help you relax during your procedure. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation provide varying levels of relaxation, and in some cases, may be combined for more pronounced effects.
