Ways To Help Houston From AustinHurricane Harvey and the devastating flooding that followed have wreaked havoc on our neighbors in Houston. There are several ways to help from our own home in Austin, Texas. There are several Hurricane Harvey Benefit Shows. The list includes concerts, special dinners, diaper drives, food drives, and special events put on by local Austin businesses and charities. There are exercise classes and boot camps with all proceeds going to help Houston. There is even a special wrestling show designed to raise money. Austin coffee bars and movie theaters are all joining in to raise money and goods. There are several places to donate, such as the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Local organizations like the Austin Disaster Relief Network are taking donations to provide immediate and long-term assistance to those impacted by Harvey. The Texas Diaper Bank is accepting both monetary and diaper donations to provide diapers to families who have been impacted by this disaster. You can donate blood easily and conveniently through We Are Blood. If you are able to foster pets displaced by Harvey and flooding, Austin Pets Alive is looking for families that can do just that. They are also looking for donations of food, blankets, newspapers, toys, treats, towels, and litter boxes.
