trail-of-lightsIn 1965, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department put together a small gathering known as the Yule Fest. Since then, what became known as the Trail of Lights has grown into a deeply-cherished tradition, and has become one of Austin’s largest annual events! Starting December 10th and lasting until December 23rd, bring your family to enjoy the Trail of Lights at Zilker Park in Austin. General admission is free for all ages, and the trail will open nightly from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

About the Event

The Trail of Lights is a 1.25-mile walking trail. You can bring blankets and baby strollers, as well as umbrellas, small wagons, binoculars, personal cameras, and more. Because Trail of Lights is a family-friendly community event, alcohol is prohibited. For a complete list of event information, including allowed and prohibited items, visit the Trail of Lights Event Information page.

About the Foundation

The annual Trail of Lights event is made possible by the Trail of Lights Foundation—a non-profit corporation dedicated to raising funds, organizing, and producing the Trail of Lights for the community each year. With the Foundation’s help, and the support of the entire Austin community, the Trail of Lights has remained one of Austin’s top 3 events.
