Losing a tooth can be hard as an adult. Losing multiple teeth can be especially challenging. Dentures supported by dental implants is an optimal way to restore your entire smile, but the thought of full smile restoration can be daunting. Traditionally, using dental implants to support dentures meant surgically implanting at least six to eight posts for the dentures to rest on. The process could be invasive and time-consuming. The All-On-4® treatment system strategically places the implant posts so that only four posts are required on the top and the bottom jaw. With the lower number of implants needed, the All-On-4® treatment can be less time-consuming, less invasive, and more cost-effective.
Over time, a mouth with missing teeth can begin to experience bone resorption or bone loss in the jawbone. If you have worn dentures without implants, there is a chance you have suffered bone loss. Bone loss can soften and change the shape of the jaw. For traditional implants, the bone may need to be stabilized or preserved before the implant can be placed. This can be challenging for those who have been missing teeth for several years. The All-On-4® treatment was designed by Noble Biocare® to be compatible with jaws that have experienced some bone loss. If the bone loss is extensive, your dentist may be able to offer alternate options to complete the treatment. The implants can stabilize the jaw to prevent further bone loss from happening.
The All-On-4® treatment was designed for immediate use after surgery. Your dentist may be able to fit you with temporary restoration. With the temporary, you will be able to get back to your life sooner until your finished prosthetic is ready.
