The sky is getting bluer, tiny buds are popping on every tree aching to burst open with beautiful new foliage, and the freeze of winter is beginning to thaw. Spring is about to arrive, and with that, comes gentle spring breezes with which to fly kites. On March 5th at Zilker Park, the ABC Zilker Kite festival will be taking place and it’s free for everyone! Grab the family and join in the festivities.
Go Fly A Kite!
This wonderful annual event takes place on the first Sunday of March. Everyone is welcome to attend including pets. It’s completely free to watch or participate in the contest. The festival is also a fundraiser, with stations on site to donate to Communities In Schools, which is a dropout prevention program. Along with the hundreds of creative kites that will be soaring above, the second annual MossFest will be running concurrently, featuring various local artists (such as Barton Hills Choir, Hey Lolly, and Trout Fishing), vendors, and activities, all of which are family-friendly.
