Most people assume that metal braces are the only option to correct misalignment. However, we’re proud to offer our patients an alternative to metal orthodontics with a series of clear plastic aligners. Do you have questions about ClearCorrect?
Question: How does misalignment impact my smile?
Answer: Without treatment, misalignment can continue to provide places for food articles to remain trapped. Bacteria then break down these particles, leading behind a higher level of oral acidity and plaque buildup, which weakens tooth enamel and inflames the gum tissue. In addition, misalignment has been known to sometimes strain the jaw joints, making the onset of TMJ disorder and TMD more likely. However, by seeking orthodontic treatment, you can correct your uneven smile and enjoy improved oral health.
Question: What is ClearCorrect?
Answer: Instead of using metal braces to reposition the teeth, we will create a series of clear aligners made from a BPA-free plastic material. The aligners will be custom-made to ensure a comfortable fit and to help gradually move your teeth into optimal positions. We will take detailed impressions, photographs, and x-rays, which will be used to design and create your clear orthodontics.
Question: How long do I wear the aligners?
Answer: You will need to wear the aligners every day for between 20 and 23 hours in order to see optimal results. The time frame will vary depending in the extent and severity of your misalignment, but often treatment takes between a year and 18 months.
Question: Do I need to alter my diet?
Answer: No! Since you can remove the aligners prior to meals, you don’t need to avoid hard or sticky foods as you would with braces. In addition, brushing and flossing your teeth is easier, allowling you to take better care of your smile during treatment.
